Become a University Student Organization
As outlined in the University Policy on Student Organizations (STU-01), some registered student organizations are considered University Student Organizations and are treated as operating units of Indiana University. USOs are typically formed by Indiana University to serve an important function or to provide a certain opportunity for students, and are subject to all university policies and procedures. Final approval of USO status for an organization rests with university administration, based on various factors such as funding sources, staff support, management of risk, integration with university operations, and the historical and reputational relationship between the student organization and IU.
If you are a full-time faculty or staff member, complete the form below to request USO status for a new student organization within your department or unit. Enrolled students should ask the faculty/staff advisor to submit this form, or submit the Register a New Organization form through beINvolved.
