Supporting Hoosiers and their families
First Year and Family Experience Programs is dedicated to ensuring a smooth and successful transition for new Hoosiers and their families. Our mission is to provide first-year students with the support, resources, and programming they need to thrive at Indiana University, both inside and outside the classroom. We help students build community, develop skills, and make the most of their IU journey from day one.
We also recognize that families play a vital role in student success. Our goal is to welcome the families of our students to the IU community as partners in student success and to provide resources, information, and opportunities to engage with Indiana University. Our office oversees Family Weekend, monthly e-newsletters, webinars, and engagement opportunities to keep families informed and involved during their student's time at IU.
Supporting new students
Your first year at Indiana University Bloomington will be filled with exciting experiences and many of them will be new and different. First Year Experience will support you through it all!
We have programming that is designed to help connect you to campus. Starting with Welcome Week in August, our first-year programs will be there to guide you through your transition from high school to a successful college student.
